The study program covers the main grape varieties and their cultivation areas as well as wine terminology, wine production, various factors that affect the style of wine, sparkling wines, sweet and fortified wines.
Students learn to taste wine professionally with WSET's Systematic Approach to Tasting (SAT) and during the teaching days they taste about 45 wines. The tasting is an essential part of the course and approx. 50% of the time is spent on practical learning.
This is an intensive course and it is important with thorough preparations before the course starts to get the most out of the lectures.
The study package with the books is produced and published by WSET and is in English. The teaching takes place in Norwegian at the Culinary Academy's premises with wine specialist Heidi Iren Hansen (Sommelier, WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits and Master of Wine) and Natalia Statan ( Sommelier)
