WSET Level 4 – Diploma

The course fee for 2026-2028 Diploma will be at 87 000,-.

Once the offer is confirmed, their place in the Diploma 2026–2028 will be secured.

  20% weighting – classroom 16 hours – self study 80 hours

  10% weighting – classroom 8 hours – self study 40 hours
• D3 Wines of the World
  50% weighting – classroom 70 hours – self study 170 hours
• D4 Sparkling Wines
  5% weighting – classroom 8 hours – self study 16 hours
• D5 Fortified Wines
  5% weighting – classroom 12 hours – self study 16 hours
• D6 Indipendant Research Assignment
  10% weighting – classroom 2 hours – self study 48 hours

Successful graduates acquire exceptional analytical skills and proficiency in evaluative wine tasting, gaining global recognition as authoritative wine specialists. Should a student wish to progress to the Master of Wine programme, he/she will be well-prepared.

The Diploma is delivered in six mandatory units covering a broad range of topics including wine production, wine business, and still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world.

D1 – Wine production

• Vine requirements
• Anatomy of the vine and grape
• Grape growing options and how these options affect grape yields, quality and the final wine produced
• Natural factors in the vineyard and how they influence the vine’s ability to produce grapes for wines of different styles, quality levels and price
• Winemaking and post-fermentation options and how they influence the style, quality and price of wines

D2 – Wine business

• The types of businesses engaged in wine production and the options for getting wine to the point of sale
• Factors that contribute to the price of wine
• Key considerations in wine marketing

D3 – Wines of the world | D4 – Sparkling wines | D5 – Fortified wines

In each of these Units you will learn:

• How grape-growing, winemaking, maturation, wine law and wine business influence the style, quality and price of the wine
• How to taste and evaluate wines using the WSET Level 4 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine®(SAT)

D6 – Independent research assignment

• How to research a specified wine-related subject

Course fee for 2026-2028 will be 87 000,- kr and includes course days, all wines tasted during the course, access to online study material, obligatory exam fees. All prices are subject to change without prior notice due to currency fluctuation.

The study fee will be split on two invoices, one due before the course start and one after approximately 8 months. We offer more flexible payment plans both for the individuals and businesses. Enquiries can be directed to our wine coordinator Hanna.

Cancellations of confirmed places are accepted up to 30 working days prior to the start of the course. However, an administration fee of NOK 1500,- plus the full cost of the student registration (approximately NOK 4000) will be invoiced.

Cancellations of confirmed places later than 14 working days prior to the start of the course is not accepted and the full study fee will be invoiced.

Candidates must hold either the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines or the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits to enroll on the WSET Level 4 Diploma.
No other course or education qualifies for admission.

Candidates whose first language is not English are strongly recommended to have an IELTS score of 6.5 or above or be able to demonstrate an equivalent ability level.

Exams: 

Students will be registered to sit exams according to the scheme found under «Exam dates», unless otherwise agreed. Students can choose not to sit on the scheduled date, or to sit exams in other cities of the world on the dates set by the WSET.

If a student withdraws from an exam after the deadline he/she has used one examination attempt. If the student has been registered for the same exam previously, the full exam fee will be invoiced. All registrations/withdrawals from exams must be done via email to the study contact.

Students must pass five examinations and one assignment to pass the study. From the start of the program, students are registered for three years. As so, students have three years to complete the entire study program before a new student fee will be invoice (Approximately NOK 4000,-)
